FRANCISCO DE GOYA: LOS CAPRICHOS

Created during a time of social repression and economic crisis in Spain, in Los Caprichos Francisco de Goya set out to document the human condition and denounce social abuses, social backwardness, ignorance and intellectual oppression. This exhibition features an early edition of Los Caprichos, a set of eighty etchings first published in 1799. One of the most influential series of graphic images in the history of Western Art, Los Caprichos deals with themes as diverse as the Spanish Inquisition, the frivolity of young women, witchcraft, child rearing, and avarice.

This is an AlburyCity Gallery Touring Exhibition.
